Braavos, also known as the Republic of Braavos, is a city-state located on the Antarctic Peninsula. Though one of the smallest, Braavos is the most powerful and by far the richest of the Free Cties. The city is known for its islands and canals, reminiscent of Frostize.

History[edit]
Foundation[edit]
Unlike the other Free Cities, Braavos was not founded by the Penguin Empire, but by the Peninsulan Slav'ens. Because of its strategic location, on Antarctica's most important shipping lanes, Braavos grew to become a rich and powerful city. When the Penguin Empire, along with the Peninsulan Slav'ens fell some time later, Braavos, along with the eight other cities on the Peninsula, grew into independent city-states.
Medieval Times[edit]
During the medieval times, Braavos continued to thrive, growing to become the most powerful city-state of the nine Free Cities, a title it still continues to hold. The city also continued to be the trading center it was since its founding. Braavos also controlled a strip of coastland on the Peninsula, and also held a great deal of influence on the surrounding seas.
Khanzem[edit]
Because Braavos was the farthest north of the Free Cities, the city-state was never affected by the war. The city-state's vast fleet and expansive natural defenses ensured the city's safety. Though Braavos stayed out of the war initially, the Republic did provide much support financially to the Good Guys, and Braavosian shipyards provided the Good Guys with many ships.
Colonial Antarctica[edit]
While the Puffish managed to capture the southern city-states of Lys, Myr, and Tyrosh during the Peninsula War, the natural defenses of Braavos, along with their massive fleet, and power deterred the Puffish from ever attempting an invasion of Braavos. In return, Braavos agreed never to interfere with Puffish control of the area, only staying in their territorial waters.
By 1999, when tensions were high across Antarctica, Braavos had been secretly aiding the rebels for years. The city-state provided the rebels with many supplies, financial aid, and weapons before and during the war, and it was Braavosian fleets that keep Puffish fleets busy and stalled enough time for Greg Cleanington to score the crucial victory at the Battle of George Washing Machine Laundromat.
Government[edit]
Braavos is a republic, and like many countries, its government consists of an executive, legislative, and judicial branch. The executive branch consists of a prime minister, and a cabinet, while the bicameral legislature, called the Council of Braavos, consists of the Braavosian Assembly and the Council of Representatives. The judicial branch, called the Judiciary, and deals with laws.
Politics[edit]
Braavos refers to itself as a republic. Presidential elections occur every 4 years, while Council elections occur every 2 years. Judiciary members serve for life, and new judges are appointed by the prime minister when need be, which need to be approved by the Braavosian Assembly.
