Economy[edit]

The United States of Antarctica's massive, capitalist mixed economy is predominantly spearheaded by it's huge influence in global markets across the Antarctic Region, holding a GDP of roughly $26.331 trillion Polarian Dollars, making it the largest GDP by country in all of Antarctica. It's justified mainly by it's strong control over it's trading states: Trans-Antarctica, Eastshield, and Sub-Antarctica, all of which feed their cargo and trade commodities to SABER, or the Antarctic Sea Trading Route, which sees hundreds of ships traveling through every day. Average GDP per capita within the country is $11,661.81. The United States is the 2nd largest exporter of goods, and the 1st largest importer of goods.

As a global super power, the United States has adopted a standard currency, which most countries use alongside their own. This currency is known as the Fish, one of the newest currencies. Before this, they used the Pebble, which failed and collapses due to hyperinflation. Today, it's worth only one-twentieth of a single Fish. Due to the power of the Fish, several countries fixed their own currency to the value of the fish in an effort to maintain equality with the United States. A Fish is worth approximately 75 cents to one Polarian Dollar.

The Private Sector constitutes roughly 81.4% of the economy, while the government accounts for 4.2%. The remaining 14.4% are local government activities.

Trade[edit]

SABER produces a majority of the economic growth seen by the United States, due to their control over the largest route. Their advancements in technology, however, has made a lot of their products in high demand in countries wanting a boost to their technological field, such as the teleporter, holographic newspapers, and the internet, although many countries have already developed their own version. Several tech companies have started up in the tech savvy areas of the U.S.A, looking to further improve on the conceptual technology being offered.

Major Companies[edit]

Several homegrown companies have been successful in the United States of Antarctica. By far, the most successful is the Club Penguin Times, which has spread almost everywhere in the region, and offers true, unbiased views on today's top stories. They have been in business for 15 years, having gone over many name changes and restructuring of the company under Aunt Arctic's leadership. Today, they are flourishing and expanding rapidly, having gone into the holographic newspaper market just recently, trading paper for hologram.

It's worth noting the majority of teleportation companies as well, while not so big, are still expanding rapidly in growth, pioneering new wavelength transport technology for more efficient transport. The government's goal is to achieve 100 mile range of teleportation by the year 2020 using the top model of teleporters. Multiple companies have formed as a result of this industry, such as SonicGreen, the provider and operator of the Antarctic Teleporter Network, or ATN. They receive and distribute teleporters from Teleporters' INC., which operates a subdivision for Emperorlands known as Emperorlands Teleporters. Despite the monopoly held by these companies, however, several small teleport companies are popping up rapidly, such as TeleNet, which promise to be "biohazard free."

The United States of Antarctica also produces military technology under a division of Pulse Holdings called SnoBoll, a weapons company specializing in heavy defensive capabilities as well as utilizing the environment to their advantage. The government placed several heavy bids toward Pulse Holdings to establish a company to boost their military defenses after hearing good word from other nations regarding their technology. While it is still in conceptual stages, there are major promises for a fantastic partnership to flourish.

Major Industries[edit]

The size and scale of the United States' economy allows for a wide variety of industries to grow, flourish and export goods all over the region to other companies.

Chemical products, such as oil, jet fuel, and ship fuel, are the leading manufacturing field in the economy. They are the largest producer of oil in the region, as well as the largest importer of this, mainly due to Antarctic Inc.'s large market share, being the largest company/conglomerate in the region. The agricultural sector is only taking up 1% of the GDP, however, losing out by a milestone to technology. The United States is the top producer of electricity in the region as well, using both nuclear, coal, and oil to power their enormous country.

Technology is the second leading in the economy, boasting 35% of the market. They're predominantly held by the two big corporations of the field: Micro Hard and Soft and Peach Inc., producing software for roughly 95% of the computer market at any given time. Coming in at a close third to Peach Inc. is Eureka!, Antarctica's only practical search engine, boasting a natural monopoly over the market. Snowtendo is the only company in the direct consumer entertainment and technology market, coming in at a 4th place. Other companies, such as TeleNet occupy this space.

Processed foods are 3rd, holding 10% of the market. The leading company to hold this would be Pizza 7, claiming to have "a branch in every city, literally," tying with the Pizza Parlor for first. McDoodles, however, has the title of a regionally recognized brand, having a huge profit, outweighing even some GDPs of countries.

Entertainment and Media hold the final 9% of the market share, split evenly by CBN and Penguin Network, with other companies having a minor part within the industry.

Citizens[edit]

Multiple polls and surveys show that roughly 1% - 9% of U.S.A citizens fall at or below poverty level ($5,000 - $7,000) on average across the entire continent, although in some areas, it changes by either +/- 2% - 4%. 60% of citizens fall at or below middle class level ($11,000 - $19,000) on average across the continent, but the range is increased in cities such as South Pole City, where the technology industries pays about 25% more on average. 30% of citizens fall at or below the upper class level ($19,000 - $100,000) on average across the continent, showing more numbers, again, in more developed areas. 1% of citizens are above the upper class level, breaking the charts ($100,000+). Antarctica has a problem with homelessness, seeing about 3% - 5% of the population of a given city out on the streets. The government is working on bringing this level down, however.

45% of the populace lives and works in high paying areas such as South Pole City or Eastbank, earning money in the top percentile. 25% live in the average areas of the continent, earning money within the second percentile, while 15% live and work in the poorer area, earning money in the third percentile. The remaining 15% are transient workers, who work based on where the jobs are currently. These numbers are accurate to +/- 3%.
