User blog:Explorer 767/The Final Solution Draws Near...
Hey, everybody, it's Explorer again. This blog post concerns the ever-approaching Final Solution, which will wipe out every single LQA and stub on the wiki.
Now it's mid-July, and we need to prepare for the nuking. We're going to have to tag every single article on the site with a quality template by early August. That way, we can easily start mass deletion. We also need to tag the Safe LQAs -- the LQAs that must not be removed for one reason or another.
However, we're going to need some guidelines for that. So far, an LQA is safe if it's in continuity. But we need a specific method of determining that. Kwik suggested using the WhatLinksHere tool. It's a good start, but there might be a better way to do it.
Also, we need to figure out how we'll mass-delete all the articles. We could do it with a bot, but that risks deleting some Safe LQAs that were left unmarked. We could do it manually, but that might take forever. I'm also wondering whether we should halt article creation at any time before the Final Solution, so that new LQAs don't get created and cause trouble for the users tagging everything. And should we get every single user involved in the tagging, or let an elite squad of taggers do the work behind the scenes while wiki life goes on normally?
There are a lot of decisions to be made, and the only way we'll be able to figure all this out is if users make suggestions. So comment and give your feedback! The more suggestions, the easier the Final Solution will be to execute.
